        ACADEMIC AND SCIENTIFIC DEGREES

        PhD in Civil Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon, with the dissertation entitled “The management of maintenance activity in public buildings. Model and definition of strategies for sustainable intervention” (in Portuguese), in 2011.

        Post-graduation in Quality Management. Quality Management Systems Auditor Qualification. Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz, in 2005.

        MSc degree in Construction, from the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon, with the dissertation entitled “General quality assurance plans for construction projects. A contribute to its elaboration” (in Portuguese), in 2001.

        Degree in Civil Engineering, Structures and Construction area, from the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon, in 1992.


        CURRENT AND PREVIOUS POSITIONS

        Research Officer, Construction Quality Unit, since 2021.

        Research Officer (2011/2021), Research Assistant (2001/2011), Research Trainee (1998/2001) and Research Fellow (1995/1998) at LNEC’s Buildings Department.

        Research Fellow at LNEC’s Structures Department (1993 e 1995.

        Guest lecturer on the B.Sc. course in Construction and Rehabilitation Engineering at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia e Ciências - Lisboa (ISEC-Lisboa) (2017/2020).

        Lecturer on the B.Sc. course in Civil Engineering at the Escola Superior de Tecnologia do Barreiro of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (2003/2004).

        Guest lecturer on the B.Sc. course in Civil Engineering at the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias - Lisboa (2001/2003).

        MAIN AREAS OF RESEARCH / INTEREST

        Management and quality in construction

        Building maintenance management and maintenance key performance indicators

        Durability of building materials and components

        Building inspection and assessment of building’s condition

        Assessment of the presence of asbestos in buildings


        ACTIVITY DEVELOPED

        Participation in national and international research projects in the main areas of research/interests.

        Studies for public and private entities in building pathology and building condition assessment. Building inspection techniques and assessment of building anomalies. Assessment of buildings with asbestos.

        Expert for the LNEC in several legal processes.

        Teaching activity in Construction Quality, Construction Management and Construction Materials areas.

        Supervision of Ms.S dissertations and participation in juries for academic exams.

        Disseminated the outcomes of the research and development activities through scientific and technical documents, presentations, workshops, lectures, and scientific meetings.

        Internal audits of several operating units of the LNEC Testing and Metrology Laboratory.

        Expert at the National Innovation Agency.

        Member of the Standardization Technical Committee CT80 – Quality Management and Quality Assurance.

        Member of LNEC Qualification of General Quality Managers Section for the LNEC Quality Mark for Construction Works.

        Substitute for the Quality Director at Technical Assessment Body and as representative of LNEC at the EOTA - European Organisation for Technical Assessment.

        Author or coauthor of 200 publications, including dissertations, LNEC Reports and Technical Notes, chapters in books, conference communications and articles in magazines.
