RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL ACIVITY
Research work on the confinement capacity of clay liners and soil-bentonite slurry trench cutoff walls (permeability and transport of contaminants); and the technical feasibility of reusing and recycling waste in geotechnical works.
Studies and consultancy in environmental geotechnics: reclamation of environmental liabilities, land contamination, reuse and recycling of waste in geotechnical works, site studies for waste landfills, and laboratory and field tests.
Studies and consultancy in engineering geology: zoning of susceptibility to ground movements and suitability for construction in support of urban planning, slope stability, site studies, laboratory and field tests.
SCIENTIFIC ORIENTATION
Orientation and co-orientation of one PhD thesis (not yet concluded), four MSc thesis and thirteen traineeships (two of them foreigners) in cooperation with FCT/UNL, FC/UL, UM, Insa de Lyon, and Institution of Portuguese Engineers.
